The first real crack in Luthen’s confidence. As events unfolded, A realization came to me that not every situation can be solved by sheer will and determination.
Sometimes, pulling back and becoming vulnerable opens the way for others to step up and take the lead. And for a successful rebellion, one that is driven by people all working together, letting others take the lead, creates a sense of responsibility.

Again, we further see how Luthen pulls back to let people make choices. Divine will comes into being when we act, but also when we let go.

Then Luthen visits Bix, Cassian’s childhood friend and lover. At times, I can barely determine Luthen’s motives. Is Luthen is trying to be more compassionate, or is he gauging the situation to determine what to do next?

This scene reminds me how difficult it can be to change when the world makes up its mind about who you are.

Trust is hard to come by when we build mental pictures of each other. There is probably a good reason for why our brains are wired for that, but I wonder if limits us?

Throughout most of the series, his strength and determination is so important. I like this scene because its the first time we really see genuine compassion from Luthen.
